Every Child Matters

Aims
At Lodge Park Technology College, we strive to ensure that all students achieve their educational potential, including those who have special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning needs. These needs take a variety of forms such as: moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties behavioural, emotional and social difficulties visual impairment, dyslexia and speech and language difficulties.

The ECM faculty provides additional provision for these students, however, all of the college staff take responsibility to ensure that our SEN students are given the opportunity to maximise their potential and learning through appropriate curriculum delivery.

The ECM faculty is made up of a number of different provisions to ensure that all learners are provided for. Our SEN team, led by the SENCo ensure that all of our SEN students can fully access the curriculum and that they receive additional support to meet their needs. Our large team of LSAs are deployed to faculties to ensure that they develop a strong subject knowledge that allows for a higher level of teaching and learning support and progression for our targeted students.

Our Central Services team consists of Learning Mentors, Curriculum Mentors, Behavioural Support Assistants, A parent Support Advisor, and Attendance Officer and an ILC facilitator. These members of our team in conjunction with external agencies are equipped to ensure that additional support and focused intervention is delivered to our learners removing any possible barriers to learning and helping our students succeed.

We also provide additional support to our EAL learners who have access to our specially trained EAL tutor and TA. This department provides focused intervention to both groups and individuals which allows them to develop their English skills alongside other areas of the curriculum.
